Top 10 Best Things to do in Malibu 2018
Everyone wants to come to Malibu to see if the rumors are really true. Is the surf really that good? Are the beaches actually that pristine? The celebrities, the views, the food, the weather. People from all over the world come to Malibu to see what the hype is all about. As a long time Malibu resident myself, I say that the hype is accurate and the rumors are true about Malibu. I’m going to list the top 10 best things to do in Malibu 2018.
The first four places I’ll cover here are some favorite beaches in Malibu, because most likely if you’re going to Malibu, you’re going to the beach.
#1: Point Dume Park
Point Dume definitely one of the most beautiful places in Malibu. It’s slightly tucked away and boasts hiking, swimming, and surfing. You can either hike down to the beach, or hike up to the top of Big Dume to see a sprawling view of the Malibu Coastline. It’s not uncommon to see whales or dolphins playing in the currents off the coast.
#2: El Matador Beach
El Matador is another favorite beach of mine. It’s known for it’s scenic cliffs and boulders where many proposals, photoshoots, and other exciting events happen. This is the beach for that perfect picture, or to watch a gorgeous Malibu sunset. This easily made the top 10 Best Things to do in Malibu 2018.
#3: Leo Carrillo Beach
Leo Carrillo is a favorite among the surfer crowd. This beach doesn’t have a ton of sandy space to play volleyball or lay out, but it does have stunning rock-shelfs that visitors can scramble up for some stunning views. The waves are usually perfect for beginning surfers and there’s a good area to swim too. This beach is about 20 minutes past Trancas Shopping Center, but the far location helps keep the crowds down.
#4: Zuma Beach
Zuma beach is a must-see if you are in Malibu for a short period of time. The perfect all sand beaches and the great waves make it perfect for everyone in the family. If you are looking for your classic, beautiful beach, go to Zuma. An absolute must on the Top 10 Best Things to do in Malibu 2018.
#5: Malibu Seafood
Malibu Seafood is a Malibu staple. The fish is fresh, inexpensive, and tastily prepared. On weekends and holidays the line is out the door, and for a good reason! The tuna burger is a great option and you can’t go wrong with the catch of the day!
Nobu Malibu is nothing short of famous, and for a good reason! Nobu sushi is second to none, and it’s an Malibu experience that you wont want to miss.
#7: Hiking at Solstice Canyon
Solstice Canyon is a short 1 mile hike to a small waterfall in the Malibu mountains. The hike is paved and suited for all fitness types, as well as kids. There is also the rising sun trail if you are looking for a more strenuous hike.
#8: Sunlife Organics
If you love smoothies or acai bowls, Sunlife is the place for you! This is the perfect after-beach snack place and you will find tourists and locals alike lining out the door.
#9: Malibu Wine Safari
Malibu Wine Safari draws quite the crowd and for a good reason! Visitors get to go wine tasting in open-air safari jeeps throughout the rugged Santa Monica Mountains. After the safari, enjoy a wine tasting and a kiss from the Malibu Wines giraffe! (Yes, an actual giraffe).
#10: Malibu Pier
While the Malibu pier doesn’t boast the same attractions as the Santa Monica Pier, it is still a beautiful sight to see. Malibu Farm, the cafe at the end of the pier serves a delicious brunch and you can’t beat the views.
